I bought the treehouse with my late-wife, CC, about 10 years ago. We stumbled upon this funny little house on the side of a mountain way the Hell out in Shenandoah County in the mountains of Virginia. My daughters think we don't have running water, but that's only because they don't understand a cistern system.
It's about a 15 minute drive into "town". "Town" is Mt. Jackson, and it has really become the home I've always thought of but never knew I was looking for. I'm a part of the local art scene here, and these wonderful people have become my family. They welcomed both CC and I with open arms when we moved to the treehouse, and we all look out for one another.
Now I'm living here with my ever evolving collection of rescue pets. Some of which I've found at local shelters, others have found me. I believe there is a newsletter that goes around the animal kingdom here on the mountain that alerts stray cats to my presence and my inability to turn away a hungry critter.
The animals and I are very happy here. We even enjoy the occasional visit from a local bear from time to time.
